We are delighted to announce that as part of the funding from Joseph’s No Limits Challenge, Alty FC Foundation Alty Ability programme will be working in partnership with Panathlon.

Panathlon is a national charity which gives young people with disabilities and special educational needs every year the opportunity to take part in competitive sport. In 2024/25, a record 74,383 young people participated in our events – mainly through competitions held externally with other schools, with additional participants with our in-school virtual programme.

We have over 25 years’ experience providing sporting competitions for a range of age groups including primary, Key Stage 3, secondary and 16+. We provide multisport, swimming, boccia, football, 10-pin bowling, cricket and a range of impairment-specific programmes which take place across 44 English counties, 12 unitary areas in Wales and new to Northern Ireland.

Our competitive pathway begins with local events, leading to county and regional finals, many held at prestigious Olympic and Paralympic venue

Alex Heywood, our Alty Ability Manager has been working closely with Tony & Debbie from Penathlon for the past 6 months to establish how Altrincham FC Community Sports can deliver the programme to schools throughout Trafford.

“This is such an exciting development for the Alty Ability programme and will allow us to provide new opportunities for children with disabilities and SEND to learn new sports and represent Altrincham FC in regional and national competition. We have already established new links to schools we haven’t previously supported and are excited to continue to grow this new programme”

Head of Community Simon Dow is looking forward to launching this exciting new programme” This is another exciting development for the charity and is all down to the amazing Joseph Adams and his No Limits fundraising efforts. Joseph and family were instrumental in establishing the link with Penathlon and see it as a way of supporting young people to fulfil their potential and have the exciting opportunity to progress to regional and national competition.”

The programme will be delivered across 8 priamry and secondary schools with each school attending the monthly inclusion festival each month, which will be held in the J. Davidson Scrap Metal Processors Community Sports Hall.

Sporting Memories

For 10 years they have been using the power of remembering and talking about sport – along with physical exercise – to tackle dementia, depression, and loneliness. They are dedicated to bringing together older adults.

The older adults who come to our online or community-based Clubs may be isolated or living with depression, dementia, or other long-term conditions. They are fans, former players, and family members. Everyone has one thing in common: a love of sport.

They provide social and physical activities, too. At Sporting Memories Clubs, everyone finds fun, friendship, and increased well-being.

They also run campaigns and projects – and work in partnership with organisations. From sporting bodies such as the PFA and professional clubs to local community organisations and care providers.

Sport Social

Our sports social sessions, taking place within our Community Sports Hall, aim to provide a safe and comfortable environment for young adults to engage in fun games and activities. Thursdays 12pm – 3pm

The free session allows young adults with physical or learning difficulties the chance to interact with other people who may share their experiences.

There is a wide range of games available to play, ranging from table tennis to darts, and each session is led by a qualified coach.

This is one of our most popular sessions, with a really nice group of people attending. The group pride themselves on its inclusivity and ability to make any newcomers feel right at home as quickly as possible. So don’t be shy, and come on down!
